Paraphrasing John F. Kennedy:

ASK NOT WHAT YOUR FELLOW TRAVELERS THROUGH LIFE CAN DO FOR YOU. ASK RATHER WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR THEM!!![/b

Another:

"Do unto others as you would have others do unto you. [Matthew 7:12]"

One we should strive to live by.

I remember hearing a preacher say that if you lost your Bible all you really needed to obey is the golden rule listed above. Actually someone else also said that that particular phrase was not an original idea that first appeared in the Christian Bible. It was borrowed from an earlier belief system.

I also remember Dr. Schuler saying that if the Christian story turned out to be a fable, he would still be glad that he lived a Christian life. I think that he was told to keep such thoughts to himself. I am surmising here, but I think these other people pointed out that their religion attempted to erase doubts and leave the follower with a clear vision of reality. Schuler's uncertainty was certainly rebuked because I never heard him make this kind of statement ever again.

Of course then there are the words from an old movie, whose name escapes me right now, in which the following sacrilegious comment was made. When Moses came down from the mountain he actually had i5 commandments but he stumbled and fell over a rock and 5 of the tablets were crushed into a million pieces. Hence we have only 10 commandments.

Ps. My apologies to those whose religious feelings I may have trampled upon.

First let me explain, I don't push beliefs of any nature. I was simply putting in, what I consider, a very old old quote.

I put in thoughts, quotes, etc. that someway touch my life. In fact a few are original. from me, but I don't say when they are. What this thread is all about. Touching others in perhaps positive ways.

Hello Warmie:

Call me extra curious if you want to but I would like to know which quotes are yours. The quote that appears at the bottom of all my submissions is obviously a take off on Franklin Delano Roosevelt's famous quote, but with that proviso in mind, the quote in question is my own. "Look at this clown tooting his own horn."

St8arrow,

Nice try. I never put my name to any I do. Better that way.

(Some) people just like it better that way.

That is a line from an old song. Can you come up with the next line in the song?

The Four Lads:

Even old New York was once New Amsterdam
Why they changed it, I can't say
(PEOPLE JUST LIKED IT BETTER THAT WAY)

Take me back to Constantinople

Is that correct?

No you can't go back to Constantinople,
Now it's Istanbul not Constantinople,
Why did Constantinople get the works?
That's nobody's business but the Turks.

Absolutely, you are right again. You've been right all along.
You're absolutely right and I am too. :) :)
