Forgetter Be Forgotten ?
My forgetter's getting better,
But my rememberer is broke
To you that may seem funny
But, to me, that is no joke

For when I'm 'here' I'm wondering
If I really should be 'there'
And, when I try to think it through,
I haven't got a prayer!

Oft times I walk into a room,
Say 'what am I here for?'
I wrack my brain, but all in vain!
A zero, is my score.

A times I put something away
Where it is safe, but, Gee!
The person it is safest from
Is, generally, me!

When shopping I may see someone,
Say 'Hi' and have a chat,
Then, when the person walks away
I ask myself, 'who the hell was that?

Yes, my forgetter's getting better
While my rememberer is broke,
And it's driving me plumb crazy
And that isn't any joke .

I have mentioned before that I had ECT.

Before the procedure I had such a great memory, could remember things and especially people's names.

Now I have a tough time with remembering just what the person's name is that I am talking to.

Even though I can't get the name I try to make sure that I look them in the eye, and smile when I say Hi.

I am fortunate that I have good friends that tease me about it but are very helpful in just keeping my world on track.

The running joke is that when I was ill (months that I have no memory of what went on in my life) my friends must have taken me to a show. They asked me if I remembered it. Of course I said," No but did I have a good time". Their reply "yes you did'.

I said "that's great"

There are some jokes to be made about the time but I deeply regret all of the memory I lost of my kids when they were young.
