xn728 ,the dog incident ( true story)

The car has been running a little rough for a few days now ,so as yesterday was my day off ,i thought id take a look ,the fuel filter needed cleaning so i took it off to carry out this task ,when the fuel pipes are removed they always leak a little fuel ,so i held a small bowl under them ,and the excess fuel drained out ,i put the bowl with the fuel in at the side of the front wheel and continued to work on the engine ,
a few minutes later i was aware of a coughing and growling sound ,i looked down and to my horror next doors little terrier had been licking the petrol from the bowl ,
I bent down to pick him up but he snapped at me ,and snarled off into the garden ,with me in hot pursuit ,i could see him shaking his head from side to side as the petrol stung his lips ,having managed to get him corned ,I made a lundge for him but he nipped my hand and ran past me ,by this time quite a crowd had gatherd on hearing the fraca, I ran after him again but to my horror ,he collapased on the lawn and after a few frantic twithes he became still and lifeless.
I rushed and picked him up ,there was no movement at all ,as my car was out of action my daughter rushed us to the vet witch is only a short drive away ,
the dog was rushed into the vet and i was asked to wait outside ,i knew this time i was in real trouble ,the people in our street would hate me and id never be able to show my face again ,
it was the longest fifteen minutes of my life until the vet called me into the tiny room ,to my astonisment the little dog was sat up and more than will ing to lick my hand , Is he going to be ok i asked the vet ,
The vet ,replied with a knowing smile on his face ?








Yes MR X he,ll be fine ....He,d only run out of PETROL...................
