Snowflakes

Snowflakes are falling like my dreams
They slowly silently flutter to the ground
Only to have them build up
Which impedes my motion
To where I lose all traction
Which is why I don't curse
when the sun melts the snow
but then I'm saddened to see
The muddy waters rush away
Flowing to somewhere else
I guess I shouldv'e built a snowman
And saved at least a litlle of it

Stones

They said sticks and stones may break my bones but stones are doing more than that
These stones of bygone friends I've known still stop me in my tracks
These stones add up and build a wall
So numerous and stacked so tall
Of names and dates and bible quotes
The stand right up like half-sunk boats
The names engraved so sad to see
And they said names would not hurt me

Rose

It hurt me when i grabbed a rose
That stood there in some virgin pose
A thorn lodged deep into my hand
It was a pain I could not stand
It made me cry and gasp for air
The rose didn't really seem to care
I was hurt and losing blood
The rose just laughed there in the mud
She didn't give any thought
To the pain her thorn had bought
And now comes a time when
I'll never touch a rose again

Grey

Since way back when I'm not the same
Iv'e taken in a touch of grey
It's in my heart and in my brain
Tried to extract it but it still remains
You might not see it you ought not try
Its encysted very deep inside
Just understand that when I cry
It's from the grey I don't know why

A Boy

Looking back at pictures I seem so surprised
A little man is smiling he's me half my size
looking back and thinking
my how much has changed
but I know there in that picture
the boy still remains
He doesn't know he can't stay
He doesn't know how things will change
Up at 6 he's gotta go
Financially can't seize the flow
The worst thing in the woeld is when we grow
Cause the boy the boy the boy must go

Flag

It's just a flag It's just some felt
And those aren't stripes
each ones a belt
And those aren't stars each ones a bomb
the proof is in those stuping songs
So take off your hat and stand up straight
And tell yourself America's great
We've broken alot of hands and severed alot of fingers
and with an accute sense of smell you can tell stench still lingers
our colors may not run but they leave rotten stains
on the red men and there blankets
under us in their graves.

I hope nobody thinks I am anti-American. I do love this country but unfortionately we are not without fault.

Great poems Ryaninatree... I think my favourite is:

Rose

It hurt me when i grabbed a rose
That stood there in some virgin pose
A thorn lodged deep into my hand
It was a pain I could not stand
It made me cry and gasp for air
The rose didn't really seem to care
I was hurt and losing blood
The rose just laughed there in the mud
She didn't give any thought
To the pain her thorn had bought
And now comes a time when
I'll never touch a rose again

I hope you're doing well (and will learn to at least try and touch a rose again - without love, what does life matter?). I've not spoken to you in quite a while and I'm wondering how you're getting on.

Take care

Stephen

Thanks Stephen.
I am not proud of those poems I sorta just feel like a messenger. Most of the poems I write come to me as a whole. I just keep writing and then its finished. Its actually a little weird. I am really not a creative person. I miss u guys, i could not get on the site lately but recently figured out why. I'll be there, t/c stephen.
