We all make mistakes, and we all learn from our mistakes... don't be so hard on yourself, and learn to forgive yourself, you don't have to suffer miserably and die a painful end, and you don't have to hurt another soul, but you can STILL go out and make new friends, know your previous mistakes, and now that you have learnt from them, i think you are ready to start again... don't hide yourself and feel miserable... hey, cheer up, ok
