I feel like I have to mention that, although you (I if you like) can't stop bad things from just happening, can't throw away the cards we've been dealt, only have our bodies strengths and weaknesses to work with; that these latest posts:

'What are the Benefits of Treating Depression Naturally?'
'Fighting Depression – 7 Ways to Beat Naturally'
'How to Prevent Depression – Positive Attitude is The Key'

I think they really are beneficial to read, ponder and, fit as best we can into our lives. I'd stop short of giving anyone your credit card, but positive disciplines are essential.

Learn to overcome depression by understanding and practising:

The conscious ability to relax and release stress any time, anywhere.
The ability to focus the mind.
The ability to neutralise or reprogram subconscious “hurt memories”.
The ability to develop mind/body exercises to overcome depression.
The ability to develop new responses to current experiences.

This is called conditioning and is part of the way we learn. Useful and effective responses to painful experiences.
