Hi ;)
over the past few months I`ve been having problems sleeping through the night.
It`s as if I my inner clock has decided to tick(nice pun ;) ) its time from the other side of the earth.
Can`t really see any reason for this.. nothing dramatic is happening in my life.
Of course it`s playing havoc with my energy levels and sometimes it`s a real struggle to get through the day into the early evening.I fall into bed wonderfully tired and still wake up at 2 A.M. you could set a clock by me.
Just wondering if anybody has similar problems or has had such problems.
Take care now :D

Hi shmuel,

You aren't alone in this battle. I see many leave the chat room just to return in time, for they can't fall asleep.

Don't know if it is the time of year, could be medications, and yes, depression can do that to you. So many reasons for this fight.

I have sleeping medication that I take occasionally. Hate taking them for then I sleep so sound or too much that I feel horrible the next day with a headache and zombie like feelings. Wondering which is worse of the two.

Getting a few hours of sleep at a time is what I try for. If I can manage a nap sometime, then I try, yet that doesn't always work. Guessing a few hours is maintaining me at the moment.

Perhaps talk with your doctor about this, get some answers from the ones in the know.

Wishing you a good night of sleep. Take care.

Hi shmuel

I can certainly relate to your post. I've had sleeping problems ever since I've been depressed.

As for answers, I do find that some sleeping tablets can assist, and sometimes doctors might suggest a tranquilizer to be taken at night to help relax and hence induce sleep (but be careful, tranquilizers are highly addictive if taken in a sufficient, regular dose).

They say that statistically napping during the day is a bad idea as it throws the body clock even further into confusion - I'm not sure if I subscribe to this school of thought, as I think everyone's different. Each to his/her own, and what works!

Has your sleeping pattern improved at all since you posted shmuel?

Take care

Stephen

Hey, I have had horrible problems with sleep and could never understand a pattern. Seems like at night my brain is trying to figure out everything from the meaning of our existence to what I am going to do tomorrow. It's messed up, I am truly jealous of those that just lay down and immediately fall a sleep. I can tell u a couple of things that have helped me. I have totally eliminated any caffeine and it has helped. I still might have a cup of joe in the morn but eliminated this substance the rest of the day. It has helped. Also another thing u might want to try is an herb called melatonin (with chamomile). It hasn't always ensured that I will sleep but I gaurantee you will feel more relaxed. U can find it at herb shops or vitamin stores. Good luck to u as I know how much not sleeping sucks.
