Hi Mich, hi Ken... been ok, not too bad. Mark is interested in the Clash album,he asks how is it different from the UK version. We've had loads more snow here, it's really beautiful in the park, looks like Narnia!

Saw the psychiatrist yesterday, he suggested I try Mirtazipine (knwn as Zispin in uk, Remeron US) I was very wary as i've heard it causes weight gain and i have eating disorder issues but looking on the internet it looks like it's not that it puts on weight in itself, it just increases your appetite,as long as i eat healthy low-cal snacks i should be ok (easier said than done!!!) Having said that amitryptiline is meant to cause weight gain too and i didn't, i even lost about 40 pounds (rampant anorexia will beat all medication) Mirtazipine looks pretty good,on the internet it said in a recent survey it was thought better than all the other anti-d's and it shouldn't upset my IBS or sleep or give me panic attacks like most other meds do to me. so i think i might give it a go (p.s one 'side effect' was possible increased sex drive and spontaneous orgasms. sounds fun!!!!!)

Work is ok and I have built up the confidence to ask my two closest workmates over to dinner next Tuesday. Life is much better but I feel scared that I'll jinx it!!!!!

Lisa - I am so happy you are feeling well. That is wonderful news. It makes me feel so good to know that you are well. I think you should try the Remeron. I tried it and it actually worked well but my anorexic self did not like the increased hunger. It has a good reputation for being very effective and I think if you can have those low cal snacks around, you will do very well.
I am so proud of you for planning to have work mates over for dinner. That is a really brave step and a really important one towards having a normal life. You can do it! And I bet you are a pretty good cook because I hold the record for being the worst cook on earth! I wish my family would just eat stir fried vegetables every night like I do but they won't go for that.
Keep up the great work little sister. Love always, Mich.

Lisa,

As so many others have said, I am glad that you are doing better.

I can certainly commiserate with Mark. I have a very sore back these days. Before I get too much sympathy, my back was sore on Tuesday. When I figured I really messed it up was on Tuesday evening. My own foolishness did the further damage.

52 year old women (much out of shape to boot) should not try to play lazer tag. It was a lot of fun. But I should have listened to that little voice in my head that has declined to play before, but they have more fun with the more people who played, so I did.

I think that part of the problem was that I was playing with some 20 somethings. It really was fun so I will do it again.

Things are going poorly with my mom, but at least I am cutting loose sometimes and having good time, with good friends.

Again, glad to hear that you are doing better. I was on Remeron many years ago but can't remember why I stopped it.

Take care

Hi everone, i'm so sorry i've been gone so long, this week has flown by. Well I've been very busy and extremely tired. I had my friends over for dinner tuesday night and despite getting extremely anxious about it beforehand and having my OCD spiral off into overdrive cleaning the flat, it was a real success. My friends enjoyed the meal and best of all it was nice just to have a quiet girly night in and realise i do have people who love me and who i can trust to talk to

Work continues to be hard but fun,i try to do something to relax me after. I find it is really helpful to talk to myself in the calm, loving way i do to the children and try not to listen to the sadistic voice of my depression.

Me and mark's relationship is still going from strength to strength. He is directing a play in May and i helped him run the auditions for it last weekend,it is flattering that he wants me involved

I am still in a lot of pain with almost constant headaches and stomachaches and sometimes really sharp chest pain after times of anxiety. Often I can feel feelings of sadness try to creep back in but I try to nip them in the bud before it gets too bad

I have even been well enough to start reading again which is really exciting,it's nice to have a bit of my mind back and I am having a bit of a Margaret Atwood revival,re-reading all her books.

I am still writing lots of poetry! Actually managed to write one today that wasn't about depression or death so maybe I truly have turned a corner!!!!

Monty,it's great to hear you had so much fun playing laser tag! It's always good to be able to let go of things for a moment and play!
