hiya ken, not too bad, pounding headache though - it is almost constant now. Back at work today, went ok but realised once and for all i will never go back full time, the stress is just ridiculous and it's taken me so long to get to a stage of being vaguely ok and i don't want to get that ill again. me and mark are still doing well together. he is having a lot of back trouble though and keeps waking up in the night with the pain

Hi Lisa - I am glad your day at work went okay. You are smart to look after yourself and realize that full time would just be too much. Maybe that will change, but if not, that's okay too. I think you are very courageous to get out there and work part time. You should give yourself kudos for that. Sorry to hear about Mark's back. My husband put his back out on Christmas day and has been suffering since. I hope your pounding head went away and that you were able to enjoy some of your evening. Take good care. *hug*

I'm glad that your return to work is going OK. I think you're wise to approach your job in a way that suits your health. Unfortunately, a lot of workplaces, their working practices and goals can add to peoples' anxiety and depression, rather than helping people to give their best and feel that they are somewhere where they can feel comfortable as human beings. Personally, I'm taking the baroque, and somewhat surreal, working environment of the British civil service one day at a time in the New Year. As long as I don't think about it too much, or have to try to pretend it makes sense, I'll hopefully be fine!
I did watch the Doctor Who on BBC 1 on New Years Day, it was so good that I watched the repeat on BBC 3 on Sunday! ( What do they mean, it's not out on DVD yet? It's been four whole days since it was broadcast!!!! )
I'm sorry to see David Tennant leave the role, I was getting quite emotional towards the end of the episode. Particularly, when he was visiting his former companions for the last time. ( Says he, with a manly sob! )
Fortunately for the other sentient races of the universe, there were no shagpile carpets in the Kaled dome. ( Genesis of the Daleks. ) So, when Davros was designing the Daleks, and his own similar life-support device, this vital weakness in the Daleks was overlooked!
I'm sorry to hear about Mark's back. One of the managers in my office has hurt his back over the holidays, and it's obvious how painful back pain
can be. Mark should be careful he doesn't slip or fall in this cold/snowy/icy weather.

another day of work done, a pretty stressful one, headache still pounding away! It is just so noisy and demanding juggling so many children (not literally!) and much as i love them i am a very sensitive person. I looked after myself though and had a lie-down on the sofa and listened to some relaxing music. I am getting better at being kind to myself.

is your work paid or voluntary ken? you can claim working tax credits if you do 16hrs or more paid work. I am thinking of building my hours up a little so i can do this seeing as the benefits people reckon they can't give me anything else. Disability Living Allowance is non means tested though. I phoned up a few days ago to see if they'd received my form and they had no record of it yet which is a bit worrying

Mark was back at work today, his back is a little better but it is an ongoing thing

Tackingintothewind, i will miss David Tennant as Doctor Who too but Mark reckons this new guy should do a good job at it too

((((((((lisalou)))))))))) so delighted to see the positive things you are doing and to read this upbeat thread...you are giving me hope that things can get better for me too!

Wishing you peace and light in your day...

P.S. old trick i learned from head ache during brow wax one time...take steaming hot wet cloth and compress over closed eyes for a few minutes while laying down, helps and sometimes heals...

Glad you're hanging in there! ( Although, I now have the image of you juggling children in my head, like something out of Monty Python! )
I too find it helpful to listen to relaxing music and close my eyes for a while after a busy day's work. I don't know if " Classical " music is something you like, but if so, have you tried the music of Ludovico Einaudi, Correlli's Concerto Grosso numbers 1-12, ( I'm not sure what the pural of Concerto Grosso is, but I know there are twelve of them! And his Concerto Grosso numbers 7-8 are among my all-time favourite pieces of music. ), or Arvo Peart's Spiegel im Spiegel. They're all pieces of music that I find particularly relaxing and soothing. ( I do hope that the somewhat prolonged length of that last sentence hasn't made your headache worse, I have to tendency to wax lyrical as I warm to a subject. Welsh people and brevity just don't seem to mix. Sigh! )
Go carefully, in all this snowy/icy weather!

glad you are feeling more hopeful shatteredhopes, i believe we are all capable of feeling better and having positive times. i don't know how long mine will last but i'm just taking it moment by moment

It certainly is very snowy tackingintothewind, all bus services were cancelled today and i had to walk into work, took an hour and a quarter! did you manage to get in ok? apparently it's going to snow for the next five days. i'm already bored of it,it's beautiful when it's fresh but terrifying walking along icy pavements. I just gave up and walked in the road a lot of the time where the cars have melted it down more.

I don't know a lot about classical music but Mark does have some Arvo Peart somewhere. I used to do ballet as a little girl and so I love the music for Sleeping Beauty and The Nutcracker (I hear they are doing modern versions called The Narcoleptic Babe and The Ballbreaker!)

Hi Lisa - music is often a comfort for me as well. I am glad that it soothes you after a hectic day at work. I also love the Nutcracker but do not listen to it often....now that you have mentioned it, I think I will. I am so delighted to see these upbeat posts from you. You are fighting this disease courageously.

Lisa, my little sister, I hope things are okay for you. Your posts were sounding pretty good but now you have gone absent for awhile so I worry. We're here when you're ready to come back. *hugs*
