Can RealESALetter.com Help You Officially Keep Your Pet While Struggling With Anxiety?

Postby junebennett43123 » Thu Jun 11, 2026 8:33 am

I have been dealing with anxiety for a while now and honestly the one thing that helps me more than anything else is my cat. On my worst days she just knows to come and sit with me. It sounds simple but it genuinely makes a difference when nothing else feels like it is working.

The problem is my current housing situation. My landlord has a no pets policy and I am constantly living in fear of being told she has to go. That stress on top of already dealing with anxiety is a lot to carry.

Someone in my life mentioned that I might qualify for an Emotional Support Animal letter which would legally protect my right to keep her under the Fair Housing Act. I did some searching and came across RealESALetter.com. From what I can see you go through a real evaluation with a licensed therapist rather than just buying a certificate online which I know means nothing legally.

I wanted to ask people here who understand what it is like to struggle with anxiety and depression every day:

1. Has anyone gone through RealESALetter.com and did the therapist actually take your mental health needs seriously?
2. Did having the letter officially recognised make you feel more secure in your living situation?
3. Did it change anything emotionally for you knowing your pet is now protected?
4. Is there anything you wish you had known before going through the process?

Would really love to hear from people who have been through this. Thank you for reading.
