Well, I want to state up front that I am in no way shape or form a medical professional, and I sooooooo ABSOLUTELY do not have all, ( ANY? ), of the answers. To tell the truth, I'm still trying to make sense of the questions!
That said, I thought I might suggest a few thoughts based on my own experiences. Although, I am very much aware that your situation may well be quite different than mine.
In my experience medication has helped me, but only as part of a range of things that have helped me start putting myself back together, as it were. One of the most dangerous aspects of my depression/anxiety is that isolation is not only a symptom of my depression, but is also a trigger for it as well. The more depressed I feel, the more I feel inclined to isolate myself, and the more I isolate myself, the worse I feel.......
So, I'm just a little concerned that if you just took medication, that might only help to a point. It might help you feel a little better, but would it be sufficient, in and of itself, to give you everything you need to really feel confident of making a better future for yourself?
I do accept how difficult it is to talk about these things, I found , and still find, it difficult to do so. I'm just a little concerned that for you to be simply taking medication, you might still feel rather isolated?
If you don't feel that you can talk to your parents or school counsellor, perhaps there might be another trusted person that you can talk to. I appreciate that this is very difficult, and you would obviously need to choose such a person very carefully. However, feelings of depression such as people like us experience are a heavy burden to carry alone. At least they were for me.
