Hi, I'm ladygator, or LG for short.
I'm 25 and have had depression for at least a year maybe more. I'm also a cuticle picker on top of that. I've been on citalopram for almost a year now and haven't had the time or opportunity to seek a therapist or psychiatrist just yet. However, in the next month or so I plan to change that. I am e-mailing with an online therapist though for the time being.
Well... I guess that's my brief intro, so hi
Anything more is in my blog..

Hey LG!! Welcome to the forums here!!! I hope you will find them as helpful as I, and so many others have. Lots of caring people here, who only want to reach out and help anyone who asks for it.
Kudos to you for seeking therapy! It seems that you're on the right path and you should be proud of yourself for doing it. Therapy is a long road to take sometimes, but well worth it in the end.
I'm Amy, btw. 32 years old, living in the USA, and sufferer of health anxiety and Generalized anxiety disorder. I did have clinical depression years ago, but was able to crawl out of it. The anxiety is tough, but I continue to battle it every day.
Glad you're here and posting! Hope to hear from you again soon!!!!

Glad you found this site.
You are a cuticle biter, I eat my thumbs when I get nervous. Unfortunately being that it's my thumbs that I work on, it is pretty obvious to those who know me, when I am going through a tough time.
I concur with those that have said it's great that you are out looking for help. That is a huge first step to take. Give yourself a pat on the back.
When I first started going to therapy, I seemed to have this idea in my head that the counsellor was a mind-reader and I couldn't figure out why I wasn't getting much out of the sessions. Why at the end of a session I couldn't understand why we hadn't talked about the things that were really bothering me. I would let things go off on tangents.
When I realized that I had to tell her what was going on in my head, it was amazing how much faster things progressed.
Hope things are going well.

I graduated from University of Florida, so I am obsessed with Gators
@Monty: I know what you mean. Growing up my mom could always tell when things were bothering me because I would just rip at my hands. Unfortunately though now that I'm finally trying to face some facts and everything I've been storing away for so long now, it's almost impossible to keep myself from shredding my cuticles
But it'll be a work in progress I guess
