I'm Shopgirl...I'm 32, and from Ohio. I joined this site bc I just miss being me...I have succumbed to years of depression and now I am just NUMB. It helps for me to talk with people ( and since I dont have any friends, this is a good place to go ) and I try my best to help people when I can..I miss the joys of life.....

Shopgirl,
I am sorry that you have experienced the isolation of depression. Most of the time, when I try to share with people some stuff, I can tell by the look in their eyes that we are in the same room but they aren't listening to me. I am sure that if I would feel that I could share some of the feelings of being totally alone on this planet of 6 billion people, that maybe it would feel better. This is a good site. I hope that you keep posting because I know that even though I haven't been posting for very long coming here makes me feel less alone.
I suppose depression is like most things. It is human nature that people are sad, sometimes. Also like most things unless you have experienced the deep, all-encompassing feeling of a deep depression you can't relate to the intense fear that you are running out of straws to grasp onto.
You mention that you sometimes just miss being me reminds me that, more and more in my conversations with people, I refer to things as happening in a past life. My life before the depression almost happened with someone different than Monty. I know in my head that it isn't, but in my heart it so totally changed my life, I also often say that the old Monty is gone forever.
Hopefully the Monty that is here now will have a little easier time of fitting in with the universe than the previous.
