Hello!!

Postby Fig » Mon Oct 08, 2012 1:53 pm

Hello....I'm new. I live in Upstate New York, near Canada. It's a lovely chilly Fall day today.

I live alone, but do have a boyfriend who lives down the hall from me. Between us we have 10 birds...9 parrots and a finch.

I do volunteer work at our zoo here, where I am a docent. I love doing this and it greatly helps my depression. I'm a vegetarian. I like to read, listen to music and watch old (really old) movies.

I hope to get to know you and give and get support.

Hi fig and welcome to the forums. The weather has changed to Fall for me as well. I love the change of seasons. You certainly sound as if your hands are full between your birds and your job. It sounds very interesting.

Please feel free to check out our chat room here too. Chat is another resource for people to exchange information and give and receive support for depression and its related issues.

Nice to have you, please keep posting and enjoy these cooler days before winter sets in. Take care.

They used to sell finches at a local store here years ago and I always thought I'd like to have one. A parrot might be a little more than I would want to take on. There is someone in the building who has a parrot and you can hear it talking occasionally.

I live in a large apartment building and a dog is out of the question. A cat would want to climb up on everything, same with a ferret. I used to have fish and they're nice to look at but don't really have a place for them. A little bird might be just right.
