Who is a Veteran

A veteran is someone who, at one point in his life wrote a blank check.
Made payable to 'Your Country' for an amount of 'up to and including his life.'
'That is Honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it.'

Justin was a young soldier who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country last week.
He was a son, grandson, uncle, cousin and friend to many.
Justin also left behind a wife and a young son, James, who is 2. The night before he died he called home to wish his boy goodnight.
I am relating this because. I am from Canada. I am disgusted that the Olympic coverage from Victoria bounced this story back in with the rest of the news. It was 12 minutes into the newscast until they mentioned this families loss.
A loss that was done with a Canadian flag on his shoulder.
Really pisses me off. I figure that if we are a country at war, that if we one of our soldiers dies, it should lead off the news.
Also frustrating because they were refusing to lower the Canadian flag at our parliament buildings in Ottawa. They figured they had to do it too many times.
Thanks for letting me rant.
Proudly wear my red shirt on Fridays to show my support of our troops.

(((((((((((((((((( Monty ))))))))))))))))))
What a loss and that family will be in my prayers.
I made a change in the original post. Changed to "Your Country", for it doesn't involve just one country, never has.
It all hits home, no matter where you are, where you live....such a brave and honorable thing "our veterans" do for all of us.
Bless them all!!!

Please do, for the both of us. I will continue doing the same here.
Have actually gotten hugs from the soldiers, men and woman. Warmed my heart.
How proud I felt at those moments.
