Not a quotation but rather a comment on Mark Twain who is quoted in the first message in this site. His real name was Samuel Clements. In the Civil War he was an Officer with the Confederate army. He deserted his post and traveled 2000 miles to the west coast to avoid capture. That aspect of his life was put forward in the book called, Grant's Last Victory.
