How to feel more confident in and outside of work

Postby Helloraspberries1 » Tue May 09, 2017 4:40 pm

Hi there, thanks for listening.

At the moment I feel like I'm still lacking confidence in all the ways which I want to improve in. I am in the process of starting up on attending support groups and looking at activities to do but I don't know if it's lack of motivation or just self esteem issues in myself. Maybe both.

Starting my new job at work is going alright. I'm learning and getting support if I ask for it although I still feel like the little things are still the issues here. Like talking to new people, handing customers correctly, getting to know the staff members there and learning on the job. It may all seem natural to feel like that but I feel alot of the time when I'm there I'm stuck on things what to do and people to talk to. There are people who I get on with of course and are very nice to me but still feel it's not enough. Is that a bad thing? Do I want things to move fast?

Right now I just want to get more of a social life and do things I wanna do. Tomorrow I'm going with my care coordinator to an out of hours service/center who helps those with mental health issues to get involved in varies workshops they have in place and services to help cope with there mental issues and self confidence in a support network. I feel nervous cuz never been to one of these things before but excited at same time cuz its what I really need what I wanted all along to get back out there and socialise, enjoy activities I use to do, be around others and hopefully make new friends which is the biggest thing with my self confidence I want.

The only thing what doesn't seem to change is my mood swings it having an effect on my well-being. I know stress is been a problem recently cuz of work. I don't know if it's just finding things outside of work to help me relax? Can anyone suggest any tips on that?

Thank you for reading my story. I really appreciate it. I just hope things get better and start looking up.

Hey! :)
If you just read my reply to your latest post about my story you've maybe got this already... but, I'd suggest you try CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), and/or mindfulness and meditation. All of these you can do on your own, but perhaps there are also groups you could join up with near you too?

Good luck and I hope it works out. Take care... hugs

Thank You for your reply I really appreciate it.

Thanks. I haven't tried CBT as I never really needed to do it for anything. As I've done therapy in the past it's just been talking therapy that I needed. It's something I can consider you. Did you find CBT helpful? Yeah I read your post. Are you still carrying on with the CBT and other stuff?

Yeah I've already been to see someone about joining a support group. I went to see them on Wednesday and it seemed helpful and good. I went with a care coordinator who I was referred by another organisation.

I'm going back there on Monday on my own. I'm nervous as I don't know anyone and don't know what it will be like. If I will fit in. I've never been able to in the past cuz of bad experiences. They do didn't groups everyday. I'm going to a games night lol. Also thinking about joining other support groups too but seeing what this one is like. Been having a look. The mindfulness I will try again.

Thank you for your advice and I hope you get the support you need too x

Hello, it seems like you are doing a lot things already that I would have suggested such as a support group and other group gathering focused on fun and socializing. That's awesome. I would just add, that you just focus on one day at a time. Its just natural that the more you keep at something the easier it gets. The more you show up the more comfortable you will be. I would also suggest meditation. It helps me to relax and calm my mind and my thoughts. If I'm not mistaken there are also meditation groups that can help you get into that. You just have to be mindful about what they are meditating on. I hope things work out for you.

Thank you so much for your advice. I will look into those things and take that on board.

It's hard for me at the moment trying to stick to a job right now and everyday I'm there I feel like I don't wanna go back but somehow I just keep going back. I'm just waiting for something bad to come along but it's gonna be when I least expect it as always.

I know I got to try and think positive. Take one day at a time as you said. Don't rush.

Thank you for your time x
