http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-11115277 About the lady who is referred to as the Bloodgate doctor (rugby)

I didn't know what to think of it, but I thought it was possibly worth a mention.... ???

(She didn't seem to be stigmatized by the panel and it was even lenient. Now, that's interesting.)

I'm not exactly digging myself out of the hole but creating a tunnel to get out another way. Throwing dirt from one end of the pit to the other isn't going to get me anywhere. Instead, I'll create my own path.

I thought this was interesting. It's an article about the Catholic church providing a mass where everyone is welcome to attend. Some people are calling it "Gay Mass". It's in the UK; I don't know if there are any in the US.

It's mental health related in an indirect way.

WARNING: THIS IS A POSSIBLE TRIGGER! [S, SH!!] Still, I felt it was noteworthy, if only to be redundant & say that illness can affect everyone.

I was sad to read it.... (I know what that's like & I'm sorry she seemed to suffer so much that she was pushed....)

Such a sad story. All the years I cared for my husband I never once saw him as a burdon.

Well.... I've heard about not thinking too much but now, I guess there's more reason behind it. (Just what I needed to hear! This means I studied the wrong thing in college! )

THE FOLLOWING IS A POSSIBLE TRIGGER, SI/SH (although it may have been heard about already):

http://uk.news.yahoo.com/5/20100917/twl ... d0ae9.html

I don't know how this is supposed to be classified.... Personally, I think she should be charged with fraud & filing a false police report. In other words, throw the book at her! What a farce!

It is not my place to judge her or whatever, but I am annoyed. I could be wrong, but I feel that her actions could have far-reaching effects--from increased hostility to a group of people, increased difficulties for people who have a legitimate situation, etc.

I'm sorry, but it just burns me because: How is the damage done truly repaired?!

She was "very remorseful" BECAUSE SHE GOT CAUGHT!!

I am also further annoyed because the tone of media reporters is of one of "feeling sorry for her". They shouldn't. No one should. At best, it is most unfortunate. I will grant it that much & unfortunate for everyone--her, the group/race of people who got stigmatized/demonized for it, the police (who wasted resources as a result), people with mental illnesses, etc. etc.

Well, that's a lesson to me. I turned on the TV & look what happened.... I will turn it off now.

It's always so sad when a disaster happens. I'm so glad this one had a happy ending.

Yeah, I know! I hope that the miners make it out of there.....

Possible trigger: See my description below the link!
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-11386795

Yikes... Allowing execution.... Um, I have no opinion on it as to whether she is mentally ill or what, but I think that plea is of note & the action being taken. It is a bit disturbing that she bought the weapons, though, & let the man lie on the floor for 45 minutes before calling the police..... ???

Possible trigger: D

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-11384660

I think this article is of note because I can only imagine how much anguish there must have been.

Honorable Mention:

Science + religion (or should I specifically say Christianity) getting along?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-11383620

I only wish they said/approximated how fast or hard the wind had to be blowing for it to happen!

Great news about the animals:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-11385774

but did you see the comparisons (semi mid-article, I think)? The thing about the walkman, etc.

Also the news is sort of spooky at the same time. "There are things out there that humankind might not know about...." (& Halloween is approaching...)

Finally.....

Possible trigger: R
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-wear-11387989

That's just unfortunate--whether he did it or not because to be JUST ONLY accused destroys your reputation/image. I'm sorry that had to happen for all the parties involved.

Um..... Nerdcore???

Man, I'm getting old! Also good to see.... People need a mode of expression....

Possibly triggering

Postby crystalgaze » Fri Oct 08, 2010 9:37 am

OLD NEWS but very noteworthy, I feel.... Possibly triggering

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20101001/ts_ ... experiment

Yet another syphilis experiment.... This is particularly noteworthy because it was said that MENTAL HEALTH PATIENTS, among others, were DELIBERATELY INFECTED.

http://www.boulderweekly.com/article-35 ... -sins.html

A viewpoint about the young gentleman who went to Rutgers & committed S, after public humiliation

The stories are hard to face.... However, it is a message for everyone to remain aware.

Thanks for telling me about this, (((( crystalgaze )))), ( Depression being
" fixed " in mice. )
I must admit that I don't quite know what my reaction to this is. I guess I'll have to give it some thought.
In theory, a treatment for depression could be a good idea. I can't say that depression is something I enjoy! :( However, if depression is a part of me, if my depression was " fixed " would I still be me? If my depression was " fixed ", would it be like swapping a blown fuse for a good fuse, and everything works better. Or, would removing the " depression " thread out of my personality lead to the whole fabric of my personality being different? And, are human beings wise enough to be trusted with the power to reprogram other human beings minds? Perhaps, in thirty or forty years time, the scientists who perfect this technique might feel like Einstein felt about spliiting the atom. ( Some time after Hiroshima and Nagasaki, somebody asked Einstein about his work and spliiting the atom. Einstein replied that: " If I had known, I would have been a watchmaker. " )
Captain Adelaide Brooke, holding a weapon on The Doctor: " State your name, rank and intention. "
The Doctor: " The Doctor, doctor, fun. "

Those are all very good questions & thoughts!! Yes, it was not something I'd try out right this minute, but it seemed noteworthy.

There was something else I heard on the news when I was sitting in front the TV about depression, but I don't remember what it was.

Actually, I'm kinda scared how depression keeps coming up in the news so often. Why the sudden attention I wonder??
