Good article. However, a note. There is such a thing as runaway hyperventilation that can last for DAYS, if not weeks. Some of the symptoms of this is sighing a lot. Other signs that you may be breathing too shallowly and fast is chest pain that resembles a heart attack where it is a crushing sensat...

For Those Who Pick at Themselves

This is not a complete answer, but it might help. On the spot you are constantly at, try hot pepper oil. It actually heals, and gives a sensation that cuts short the damage picking at something can cause. That's the quick fix. The longer term fix is to do something with your hands that take both han...

Change of Seasons

Depending on where you live, light levels can really do a number for those who suffer from depression. In the northern latitudes it PAYS to invest in a blue spectrum lamp. Yes they are expensive. However they are much cheaper than losing your job because you can't get there, upping your dosage of me...

To the original post, I think you answered your own question. Many people want to do things, but don't feel like they have the energy to do them. Is it low energy? Or lack of finding anything interesting? I think motivation is a complexity of elements. To feel motivated one must 1. Find it interesti...

It could be you have it labeled wrong.

In my opinion, and this is only my opinion, I think emotions originally started as an outward expression of a need unfulfilled. When it is chronically unfulfilled, that's when depression sets in as learned helplessness is an element of depression. In fact ,there is a good possibility that the miscon...

I too like this poem. It's very good. I hope you publish this in other places. I also like the interesting view of Churchill. I guess to everyone there is a season and when the season of the world matches the season to that person, one can change the world. One failure to another? Often it is said, ...

I ask God, that the sufferings that come upon good people be healed and at least not in vein in their and other's lives. I ask that they receive the gift of understanding in some was as to why, even if it's later on. I ask that they be shown that their experience can help ease similar burdens that o...

Self-Worth has nothing to do with economics.

There are some days that when I have nothing going on where I need to leave the house, I should get a personal manager to make me leave the house and do all the things that I know are good for me. But then I realize that I'm well enough that I can set up my own 'get out of bed appointments' and get ...

I can relate to what you are going through. I think my husband got unbelievably lucky to be able to work downtown a mile or less from the train station. At least he doesn't have to drive and has his choice of transit solutions if need be. I couldn't find a job in the state I lived in after I was fin...

How to lower stress and increase endorphins

This is from Wiki How, but you'll love these suggestions. 1. Smile. For some reason this works the same as botox and is less expensive. There are facial feedback loops that trigger hormone releases. Frowns trigger stress hormones and smiles trigger endorphin release. So smile and do feel better. 2. ...

Respect Yourself

Nail biting and other nervous habits as well as not taking care of your environment is not showing respect for yourself. No matter what is going on in your life, keeping the bathroom and bedroom a nice environment really helps your mood. I'm working on this myself, but I think it's worth the effort....

Support Skills

I find that one of the biggest obstacles for people with mental health challenges is support skills. People are so busy trying to treat the symptoms, they are not asking about the basics, like brushing teeth, showering, eating patterns and dietary patterns, making other doctor appointments and keepi...

I know that this was posted awhile ago, but my experience is that as we learn to handle 'new balances' in our lives (because it does change from time to time) I would say that some of what I'm going to tell you is always relevant. Remember to walk softly on this earth and carry a big stick for situa...
