Try not to see your injury as a set back but rather an opportunity to find a new hobby. It's not like you can never horseback ride or sail but while you wait take this opportunity and discover something new!

you can do it!

Heady Eddy, Sounds like you need to go back to the doctor and tell him/her that the medication isn't working for you. Depression is a very personal illness and sometimes certain medication doesn't work, sometimes it does. All depends on the person. And cut the alcohol. Alcohol is a depressant and wi...

Helloroll, I'm sorry you are in pain. I know how hard it is, but you are NOT a failure. You are 17 with your whole life in front of you. I challenge you to make a list of everything that is outside that you like. Everyday try to go outside- even if its just walking around your house. You'll find tha...

I'm going to be honest: You have to love yourself before opening yourself for others to love. Having a partner might not make things any better even though you may think so. Don't give up on yourself. YOU can live. Find passion, find what makes you happy and let that fill you up and drive you. Your ...

Hey Max, It sounds like you may still be struggling, but I don't think you're extremely depressed. It is good that you are so aware of what is happening because that will help immensely. There's a lot of things you can do to cure yourself other than taking medicine. Try and figure out what is inhibi...

If you are unsatisfied with your friends find new ones. There will be plenty of people who will be the true friends you need.

Guys=Drama. Who cares if you don't talk to them. Don't even worry about it. You've got all the time in the world to worry about boys. For now, Focus on yourself.

This is your life! If you don't like it you have the power to change it. Talk with your wife. Tell her what's going on. If that doesn't work out you can always get a couples councilor. A councilor can help you make sure your wife hear what you have to say. Here's something you can do yourself: Make ...

Focus: Cut the sugar

If you want the scientific gobbledygook: http://psychcentral.com/blog/archives/2011/07/13/why-sugar-is-dangerous-to-depression/ Basically Sugar is actually a depressant. You feel good for maybe 5-30 minutes then you crash. This crash can bring your mood down even lower than it is, making you sadder ...

Retrospect

Hi Guys! I just joined this forum today. For the longest time I never talked about my depression with anyone. I was ashamed of it, because I thought it was a weakness. But now that I have cured myself I see it as a strength. I am so much stronger and confident thanks to this horrible journey and I'm...

The numbness is the worst! You have to reconnect yourself with your life. Find a new passion. Find something you really enjoy and latch on and don't let go. Find new music that you really like, a new activity, a new friend. Something to tie you back to reality and hope. For me, I felt as if I was wa...

Find something to do with your hands when you become stressed. For me writing helped immensely. You can even draw on your skin as long as it's not too hard. When you feel that urge find another outlet. Stop whatever you were doing and let the moment pass. If you can go to another room and start a ne...

Lilo, I totally understand you not wanting to tell your parents and that's OK! There are tons of resources out there that can get you help without involving your parents. Talk to your school councilor (after making them promise not to tell your parents). They are actually surprisingly helpful and un...

Don't despair! Your situation is not uncommon and you are not alone! Unfortunately we cannot turn back the clock and stop having the problems we have. We must deal with them. Don't let your parents make you believe that the person you are now is somehow worse than the person you were before. In some...

There are still ways to cure depression without doctors. Have you suggested councilors? unlike doctors councilors will just listen and provide you with tools, not medication. You won't have to go into a hospital or emergency room. You can schedule a meeting and go the psychologist's office. Try that!
