Sort of.

I say I am "Fair to middling" which means nothing really. Or could be construed as "Fair to Midland" which is somewhere in Texas. On really bad days, I just say, "I'm pleading the 5th." (Fifth Ammendment to the Constitution states that I can refuse to make a statement t...

Winter in general - SAAD - MORNINGS bleagh!

Cold winter mornings in my state means subzero and ice and more work than it's worth to get into a car to drive to the park and ride and get on the bus with everyone else. PLUS they pushed my hours back... first from 9am to 8am. Then to 7:30am. BUT lucky for me my hubby is someone who knows how to b...

Question: How far away is Glasgow for you?

If you're on that side of the pond and it's a short flight and you aren't spending your life savings, maybe just start with telling Mum you're taking a trip next month. Leave out the part about the girl. Look up things to do there and plan on doing them whether the girl shows or not. Then you at lea...

WELCOME! Glad you survived your "almost" trip

I think you have the keys to your recovery and all anyone can do is help you discover what they are. Here is a thought though. My son is a gamer, as is my grandson and in some very light weight world, I play stuff, but I basicly watch their level (or yours most likely.) So the thought is this: You'v...

Wow! Has this board changed or is it me?

I was in the Chat room and I guess I never did go there much, but I remember it being a lighter atmosphere where people went to be more loose but it went by so fast, I'm literally feeling weird from having been there. I guess I remember the forums more. Less hectic. People say hello and aren't gone ...

Sometimes people get "situational depression"

Maybe something I've picked up along the way will help you sort out a bit more. You seem like you have several bits in order already. The part that stood out for me is this: IT worked but I still have episodes of depression when under stress. People with chronic depression can have it on the back bu...

She hates to talk about it. How convienent.

I feel like I am in a similar situation with my husband, but I haven't let him get away with not talking about it entirely. He's on medication that treats several conditions and it inhibits him functionally. He's always been more cuddly bunny than stud muffin and he still tells me he loves me on a d...

Saddness so deeply rooted is usually a chemical imbalance

Good for you that you fight the good fight by still doing positive things even if it still feels less than what "real happiness" might feel like. You are tougher than most and are developing some good coping methods. However, for myself I realized certain medications literally caused what ...

You're thinking "creepy" but it's really more &quo

Don't TRY so hard. Think about if she was a guy friend. When guys say I want to go to such and such movie but don't go it's usually really simple, they don't want to shell out the bucks for it. When some of the movies she's discussed come out to the 2nd run theaters the price drops and you can offer...

((Hugs)) The good news is Knowledge is POWER.

There are pshycological tests that indicate a person has a depressed state of mind by the answers to the questions. However, they don't show if that is situational depression, depression from hormone imbalances or a physical depression that someone might have even if life were perfect in every other...

So the gist was..... issues with DIL and now my Son

They live in my house but won't let me see my 15 month old grandson. It's one f****** excuse or another. I can accept some of their "boundries" as reasonable but they start making shit up that isn't true and I just want to die. Not because I lack a desire to live in general but because I w...

OMG spent an hour writing a post.....

 Sigh.

Started writing the post, felt suicidal, angry and depressed.

By the end, decided that although some situations make me want to run away from home, I am not going to do that. I am and adult. I am the Mama and it sets a bad example.

Sounds familiar.

Depression that is about a chemical imbalance and responds to medication acts like what you are describing. When I need meds and take them, it's like peeling back the fog, the gray film over my eyes and I can see the world again. My thoughts stay in my brain and don't slip away. I don't need to be w...

Try a job club. The local Unemployment office probably has 1

I went to one at my church when I was unemployed for a long time when the economy was a wreck. I was out of work over a year and my resume had good stuff on it, but got no love at all. I've battled depression since I was young and losing a job really hurts. I have a lot of my self esteem tied up in ...

I think Moms deal with this a lot.

It takes a lot of energy to work and parent children. Even non-depressed people can get tired and if left alone, sleep for hours. The other thing is that the quality of sleep matters. I've done well taking Zoloft at night to sleep and then am more awake the next day. If you are depressed and taking ...
