Hi K and welcome.
I think it is normal, to feel depressed after a breakup. I hope you'll continue posting here but believe me, you'll start to feel better after a while.
Take care and let us know how you're doing.

Those sound like innocuous, even friendly questions to me. But I also understand thinking these questions are hostile or a set up if (like me) you've had experience with being bullied. However, if they're showing signs of stress (pupil dilation, shortness of breath) that would say they're afraid of ...

I hope you're still here. I actually can relate because my inner critic is VERY vocal and will even wake me up at night to tell me how awful I am. There are some days when I can't look in the mirror because I don't want a lengthy exposition on the way I look. I'll stay in because it will convince me...

I would definitely tell his doctor what he said. I understand that it is odd having him lean on you. Personally, I don't think that + the talk of suicide is good for anyone. And, by way of full disclosure, my mom would talk about how she wished she was dead a LOT and once faked an attempt when I was...

If someone has said they're suicidal the best (I think only) thing you can do is inform a health care professional. Do you know his doctor's name? If not, contact a local community health center or suicide helpline. The fact that he has a plan of sorts (walking in front of a truck) should be a speci...

When I finally went to a therapist after struggling with an MDE that started late last year, I remember being really upset when she said I was in fact experiencing an MDE. I was really ... angry, I think it is the right word. I have to deal with this AGAIN? I thought. I'm going to have to go to ther...

Yep. That's it exactly for me. I often wish that part of my mind came with an off switch, because it is hard to hold two conversations (internal and external) at once. And yes, I still don't know how many of my life choices were me vs. the depression. But what I learned to do in therapy (Cognitive B...

The power of names
Just a random question for anyone who might want to answer:
How did you feel when you were first diagnosed with depression?
Relieved? Alarmed? [Ahem] Defensive?

Hi and thanks for sharing all of this. I think this is a great place to find support. Even though I'm not the most outgoing person I do know what you mean about being lonely. Even though I like to be alone more than most people, I find myself avoiding people because of social discomfort, which I thi...

Is there a sign on my back?
How is it that I keep winding up with friends who are, to speak bluntly, train wrecks? I don't mean things go wrong every so often. That happens to every one and friends help each other out when things go wrong. I don't mean that they get down or even suffer from depression as bad as or worse than m...

Yay, The Smiths (or La Moz solo)! I love the tounge-in-cheek humor of his lyrics. Also - NO, DM, Cake, Rolling Stones, The Clash, Hendrix, Foo Fighters, Judas Priest ... Various Blue Grass and Folk bands I pick up on a Pandora station built on Genticorum. However, I stopped listening to music for a ...

					Re: Driving
Does anyone actually have this problem besides me??? You're one step ahead of me, actually. I don't drive at all because when I have tried to learn, I start to shake, my heart rate accelerates and I get too nervous to think clearly. I know it comes from a conviction that everything I do is doomed t...
