Hey All,
It's been a weird month, just spent about 20 minutes writing a post only to find myself not being happy with it so I decided to erase it. I have nothing to post other than my attempt at a post. That's kind of where I am at right now.

Progress Report
Hey Everyone, Hope the day is all treating you well and you're continuing to fight the good fight. I've been having a lot of trouble taking action lately, but I felt like I could manage a general post, so here we are. It's been a mission of mine to try and get out with my daughter and socialize. Ove...

Re: Hello out there
Hey MtnDreams, I find myself re-reading your paragraph repeatedly. "I wish I could focus on myself because I truly believe all of my stresses would be gone. I am a very simple person and am extremely low-maintenance. If I was alone in the world I would live in a very small house or apartment wi...

Re: Hello out there
Hello MtnDreams, Spleefy has provided so much valuable information, it makes it difficult to add to it. I always find myself trying to simplify things, and pulled this from his post. "Nevertheless, in my experience, I learnt that to overcome depression, you don’t actually “treat depression” —ra...

Re: Howdy
Hey Joshuat47, Time is an intriguing concept, it's one that I often struggle with in my attempt to uncover what is causing my depression. I find myself asking, "What IS time?", we typically define it as the past, present, and future. Well, what is that? The past only exists because we have...

Re: enthusiasm?
Hey housecat, Like Spleefy mentioned, it is in fact different for everyone. I'll share a short personal story though. I find one of the things that gives me more of a general feeling of enthusiasm is reading books. When my depression came, my enthusiasm tanked, and I've been dealing with it for 8 ve...

Re: Hard Situations
Hey BrokenPen, You don't come across as ungrateful to me, you are struggling with genuine problems and are only seeking to address them. People say that depression is a perception issue, and I find truth in this. I feel like my depression definitely effects how I view my reality. Beyond that though,...

Re: Relationships and Depression
Hello Strangerdanger, and welcome. First off I just wanted to recognize all of your accomplishments, as someone struggling with depression for the last 8 years, I know how difficult it is to take action and make those changes in your life. My wife doesn't struggle with mental illness, but that in an...

Broken promises, in a sense
How quickly the things we set out to do can be undone, or is it being "undone" just a matter of perspective? My promise I made to myself to participate on the forum daily has been broken, but why did I make that promise to myself in the first place? I did it to hold myself accountable to t...

Re: Living with a partner who doesn't understand mental illness
Hey AlexisLex, I know what you are going through. I've been with my wife for 16 years, and I was diagnosed with clinical depression about 8 years ago. The fact is that there is simply no way for someone who hasn't struggled with mental illness to fully grasp what it feels like. They may think they k...

Re: Promises you make to yourself
Thanks for the reply Spleefy. Glad you like my little quote. I find myself aiming for simplicity, trying to take something complex and undefinable and giving it some sort of shape. I write a lot of my own, and I always save quotes I enjoy. I did want to clarify my stance on quality vs quantity, beca...

Promises you make to yourself
I've got nothing in me today, but I promised myself that I would make the effort to get on these forums daily, and I intend to keep that promise. If we can't keep our promises to ourselves, what else do we have? I feel like most things in life should be viewed as quality over quantity, but that does...

Re: Just A Hello
Hello Brockennstrong, The world is a crazy place, with a seemingly unlimited amount of tasks to complete and very little precious time to do so. It's no wonder why people are able to become so wrapped up in the daily grind that they ignore others around them, even people that we care about deeply ar...

Re: Needing a place to vent
Hi Aaron, It's nice to meet you. I admire your ability to help others while also struggling with issues yourself. I'm looking forward to any "venting" that needs to be done. I hope that myself and others on the forum can have a positive impact in your life, as you seem to have a positive i...
