Hello eveyone

Postby panguin0 » Wed Sep 08, 2010 7:19 pm

I'm here because I had a bad mental breakdown in class yesterday and my teacher reccomended that I call the help hotline. I didn't feel comfortable doing that. So instead I'm here. It's better to write my feelings out. Iv'e been suffering from depression and suicidal thoughts since as long as I can remember. But it's just now that I feel that it's really effecting everything I do now. From this forum I'm hoping to discuss and learn ways of coping with depression and suicidal thoughts. I'm also looking forward to talking to people who are like me and going through this too.

Hi Panguin, welcome here to the forum. It's nice to know you've found this as well as the chat. A lot of caring and compassionate people in both.

I also want to add my, welcome to the forums.

From you post you say that you are in school. Not sure what your age is though.

If in high school is there anyone there that you could talk to. Confide in a guidance counsellor or someone like that.

Not sure how comfortable you are talking to your parents or your physican.

I have phoned our local crisis lines a few times now and they have been very helpful.

You have found a safe place here but maybe you need some professional help.

Thanks Monty,
I wasnt sure of how helpful the crisis lines would be. I think I might be willing to consider that now. I feel a bit more comfortable now that you've shared your experience with it.

I am really hesitant to see a guidance counsellor or getting my parents to take me to see a physician, as I do not want my parents finding out. I am very afraid they might not be supportive...I'm actually sure of their reaction. I dont want their feelings towards me to get worse.

I know I need professional help, but I want to cope with this until I'm able to get help by myself.

Hi. Welcome to the forums.

It's very hard to fight this all on your own. One of the most responsible things we can do is ask for help when we need it.

Hope you get the help you need.

I am glad that you are considering a calling a crisis line.

The nice thing about them is that they are anyonomous. One time in particular I was in a very dark place and they helped me see that there still as hope out there. Sometimes all I need is that there is some hope out there.

Thinking of you and remember that the forum is here to share your thoughts with.

It is safe.
