((((Warmie))))

This trivia quiz makes me feel very naive/stupid!

But thanks so much for running it... you're educating me (slowly) Warmsoul.

Okay, so far my maths skills haven't been challenged... so far it's one point to Flossy (well done you).

I keep coming back, reading and learning. Perhaps one day I'll actually know an answer? Watch this space!

Stephen

Question for 2-17 (answer tomorrow)

Postby Warmsoul/Jeanie13 » Fri Jul 28, 2006 8:52 pm

Posted: Fri Feb 17, 2006 7:17 am

The Ball has been dropped in New York's Times Square every year since 1907, except two. Which two years did the ball not drop?

(A) 1908 & 1963
(B) 1929 & 1930
(C) 1942 & 1943
(D) 1979 & 1980

Answer for 2-17

(C) 1942 & 1943. The ball drop was suspended due to the wartime "dimout" of lights in New York City. The crowds who still gathered in Times Square in those years greeted the New Year with a moment of silence followed by chimes ringing out from One Times Square.
