Treating Depression with Nutrition

Postby Yondi » Sat Mar 22, 2008 12:02 am

Prozac, Zoloft and the lot are often given to those who are clinically diagnosed with depression.

The role of nutrition was never highlighted most of the time. It took me this long to come across it, having personally experienced depression.

I would suggest looking at work by Professor Malcolm Peet on mental illness and omega 3 oils and nutrition in general. If you google his name you will come up with some interesting research - all properly conducted.
It is certainly worth trying given the side effects of anti-depressants.
Good luck

I totally agree with the concept that we need to take care of ourselves nutritionally. Not just rely on meds.

It is unfortunate that I realize that I will feel better if I eat well and exercise. It seems for me though I get to the point that I just don't care whether I am on this planet or not.

It is too bad that I am in one of those places now.

Maybe seeing on print, from one of the members of the forum will light a fire under me, and I will try to take care of myself better.

Depression and anxiety levels are quite high.

I am, at least trying, to get professional help.

Take care
