... I've seen some personal videos on the Internet about people who have undergone ECT and were severely traumatized. I don't recall these videos, but these people mostly made the claim that they felt that "a piece of themselves was gone," and that they had "brain damage". They a...

Tried St. John's Wort because I wanted something natural. It works for a while, but it wears off. The affect is a mild, pleasant, tranquil effect. To me, it felt peaceful. Again, it doesn't last long. Two weeks, give or take. That's all I know, on my end, as far as potency is concerned.

... Counseling is something I've had off and on, nearly my entire life. The earliest memories I have of therapy were when I was about 4 or 5 years old. I had that therapist and one other one until I was about 8 or 9. After that, I saw a therapist in my teens. I had a psychotherapist when I entered m...

My states of depression are only states of depression. They come and they go. Why professionals have not made note of that and approached it more intelligently, I do not know. My counselor and I don't talk about the topic of depression because she's mostly interested in telling me to ignore the caus...

Artsy-Fartsy :)

It's really neat that you are skilled at crafts. To me, it sounds like human connection is what you want. Someone who understands you and enjoys your company? The neat thing in this situation is that there are tools like Skype and Google Hangout where you can spend time online with other people. If ...

 Maybe it sounds serious? I don't know. I've been told that it's IBS, which seems nonsensical to me. The only symptoms I have are constipation and bloating -- that's all. IBS and IBD, I think, have a longer list of symptoms because they seem to involve both digestive tracts? I don't really have...

... I don't think I'll ever understand why people consider the idea of deserving "magical thinking". Psychiatrists, specifically, tend to think along those lines: if you think a certain way, instead of thinking the way we think is "right" for everyone, then there must be somethin...

Have you shared this with your father? I don't know if he's a nurturing person, but I can speak from my experience that, with feelings of depression, the one thing I want very much is to be nurtured. It might be that you feel too much pressure right now and you might feel hopeless. This sometimes c...

What I need is serious human contact. Professionals exist only to do one thing: their job. I need someone I can hold at night. I need someone I can completely open with and not suffer any kind of repercussions. I need someone who loves me and wants to be around me and is willing to help me when I n...

I know about [ ] that much of my family history details. While I don't know a lot about my mostly-estranged family, I know the bare bones of my mother's health. (It's really bad.) On the other hand, a lot of the health issues she has are preventable and are not inherited, so since I focus on my nut...

One thing that I do not agree with is the "euphoria" that people get from self-harm. If anything, self-harming breaks my heart. It makes me feel worse. This is probably only a truth for me, as I don't see anyone else doing it for the same reason. The reason I self-harm, again, is for the ...

Homeless is only a problem if you actually want "stuff". Not a problem if you don't even have a desire to live. Not caring or not wanting "stuff" is a part of not really wanting to live because the desire is gone. That's a serious shame you lost your kids. Those are a lot of ove...

Is it because of depression? I'm not sure how depression makes people angry, but I've been told time and time again that depression makes people feel all kinds of emotions, including anger. Rage, too? I can't say that this is "because of depression" but I suffer from self-hatred, so self-h...

Thanks.

Wishful thinking has gotten me nowhere, but I appreciate the sentiment.
