Inner Career Disagreements
My mom told me when I first got here that I was retired. She meant it out of kindness because she was worried that continued stress would bring on an early dementia or that I'd drop dead, again. But it wasn't true for me and I certainly don't feel retired. So those fears should be set aside by every...

Re: Alone........
Hi! You are not alone obviously because I'm replying to you. Who you are is a person who is having a rough patch. That's what my mom calls these times. I don't know who you are, but one thing I have learned is that very few people are all bad or all good. Most of us are kind of in the middle of that...

Sudden Onset of Troubles when Family Health Changes
You wouldn't think that would be a thing, would you? People get weird at funerals. They get weirder AFTER funerals. As if that's not enough, some people cannot really get closure with their real issues that have nothing to do with funerals, but for which the funeral was the trigger of a 'realization...

Influenza? A mild case of the flu can be mild enough to not even hit your 'physical radar' but impact you mentally. I've had cases where I had a cold, and then it was like it took longer for me to gather the energy afterwards to do anything for a couple a days to a week. Push fluids, lots of good so...

The fact that you care about your friends is a good sign. It means that the depression hasn't won. It won't win either, as long as you keep committed to your friends and then reach out from there. Post here a couple of times a month and people know how you are doing. Get more sunshine into your skin...

Re: Everything in my life feels wrong
There is no question that you are in a miserable place right now. I'm guessing that you are a very sensitive soul and like a flower in a drought have been deprived of the love you deserve as a living being. You're son is probably also feeling like you are the light of your life as it sounds like you...

OCD
OCD can make your life miserable. It's like a full on attack, mentally, physically, on your time, your energy, etc. I've never seen anything quite like it. I've had nervous breakdowns, panic attacks, general anxiety, shyness, slight manias, depression, etc. Nothing is as hard as OCD and eating disor...

Social and Psychological Thought Experiments with Humor!!
This is kind of a humorous look at a subject that actually is pretty serious, but if you really think about it, starts getting funny. Ok. So what do paranoid people think? That someone's after them, right? So what do they do? Well, they make a safe place where those that are out to get them, would f...

Sadly, I have been in that situation. It sounds like he is taking his stress out on you. I know what that feels like. My youngest daughter is under the stress of finals, but then so am I. I have more I'm worrying about than just that too (I have three other adult children). Finally, this morning, of...

I don't know the circumstances, but it just seems that neither of you were right for each other. She met some need in you, and maybe still does. And you did for her. But obviously you two are not compatible in enough areas. When this happens, I always like to think, ok, I know what was good here, an...

How Do You Find Good Stuff on YouTube?
I don't know about you, but if I watch one more documentary (that may or may not be true if it is anything other than NOVA), I feel like I'm going to mentally throw up. Most of the stuff that comes up are about personalities selling their stuff that we don't need, may never happen, and often don't h...

I don't know anything about what is available through the British government for people who are disabled with a prison record. It's great that you have a wife that seems to have a lot of determination and lands on her feet. I know that the job market in England can be tough. My husband's friend was ...

I am NOT some Mental Patient, and chances are, NEITHER are YOU!!
Doctors and other people often try to label things in order to treat the symptoms of real issues and concerns. But I want you to try an experiment and see if your life goes better. Also, if your child is having problems in school or at home, maybe if you start thinking in terms of a positive label a...

I am Different and that's ok.
Anyone who is a part of this forum is different, right? But I'm different in a different way. I'm like Mel on ghost whisperer, the character, not the actress. I am similar to Buffy the Vampire Slayer too in that despite her being chosen and thus different from everyone else on the planet, she tries ...
